Early spring favorites: Hepatica, Anemone acutiloba

Sharp lobed hepatica, Anemone acutiloba is one of the first woodland native plants to bloom in the spring. My family would travel out in the countryside looking for them almost every year. Several years ago, I found some of the most deeply colored rose and lavender hepatica flowers that I've ever seen, at Brigham County Park in western Dane Co. I used some of my Brigham Park photographs for these designs. I have hepatica growing in my garden but all of mine have paler colored flowers.

Tiles and mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe.

Anemone: an ancient Greek name from anemos, "wind"
acutiloba: pointed lobes
